Cell Culture and Protein Biochemistry Internships


Proteos, located in Kalamazoo, MI, is a contract research organization that provides recombinant protein expression and purification services to pharmaceutical and biotechnology organizations focusing on the early stages of drug discovery.


Proteos will be hosting Monroe-Brown internships for the summer of 2019.  Internships will be 10 weeks long, 40 hrs/week (total of 400 hours) and must be completed between April 15-August 30.  Interns will be working in 1 of 2 scientific areas:

(1) Cell Biology: intern will perform basic cell culture techniques and viral titering using a flow cytometry assay

(2) Protein Biochemistry: intern will perform bacterial expression of recombinant proteins, protein purification using affinity techniques, SDS-PAGE and western blot analysis

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Completion of at least two years of college courses pertinent to the internship of interest

  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Proof of eligibility to work in the US
  • Pre-employment drug screening

 Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with buffer preparation
  • Familiarity with basic laboratory techniques such as pipetting and pH titration.
