Proteos Employee Spotlight: John Klein

Proteos Employee Spotlight: John Klein

At Proteos, we understand that it is our employees that make our company special.  Proteos’ scientific staff has decades of combined experience in the biotechnology and life science industries.  As we continue featuring staff profiles on our blog, we are very excited to welcome John Klein to the Proteos team.

John joined Proteos in May as an Associate Scientist in the Protein Purification group.  He joins a team of talented and experienced scientists who use their skills to purify high-quality recombinant proteins and antibodies to support our customers’ research efforts.

John recently received his bachelor’s degree in Microbiology from The University of Michigan.  He began his scientific career in the lab as a sophomore by studying the human microbiome of obese patients at The University of Michigan Medical School.  John later completed research internships at Pfizer and Zoetis, both located in Kalamazoo, MI.

In his free time, John enjoys staying active.  He currently plays and coaches soccer, runs, kayaks, and walks his family’s dogs.  John is also excited to try new activities. This summer he will be exploring all the local bike trails in Kalamazoo and participating in his first yoga class (although he cannot touch his toes).

Now that John has graduated, he is looking forward to opportunities he wasn’t able to take while in school.  He is planning on traveling to Europe next year, taking various skill classes such as bartending, starting a garden, and moving into his own place that he will fix up and make his own.

John joined Proteos because of the incredible opportunity to grow and contribute right out of school.  He really enjoys the friendly work environment and how he learns something new every day.
